The Festival of Crosses

The Festival of Crosses

The Festival of Crosses took place on the 31st March 2012.  Little Lane, Bethel Baptist in Sandy Lane and Heaton Baptist all took part with enthusiasm.    Little Lane and Bethel Baptist encouraged groups within the churches and those who used the church to become involved and pictures of what was produced are in the photo gallery.

The display in this photo was done by the Toddler Group at Little Lane. The children and carers coloured shapes of their hands and formed them into the shape of an Ank.

The crosses in the foreground are Tatted crosses  made by the minister.

Little Lane Church was open from 10am-12noon for people to view the displays. Coffee & Tea was available as well as a Fair Trade Stall and Bring & Buy.  Bethel Baptist Church provided a lunch of soup and bread with a variety of cakes for afters from 12noon – 2pm. The picture below is of a display done by the Keep Fit Group at Bethel.  There were a few wry smiles when we realised it was made out of cup cakes.

Heaton Baptist Church then took the last slot of the day and led a meditation session with different readers.

The Festival was a good opportunity to work together across the churches on a particular event. Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed making their display and also seeing the finished exhibition.

Well done everyone.
